I hold a sun-warmed pebble in my hand to help me feel the process as I watch the long wave energy radiating off Earth’s surface. Some of the waves flow straight back into space but many of them hit the Warmer Trace Gas molecules and are radiated back to Earth, warming me. Even at night time I can still feel their warmth. But then I notice every night is different in every place.
