Southerly front comes in across the Bay
Ever in memory of my friend, David Lawson.
David was killed when his yacht was caught in a southerly storm in the Cook Strait. A rogue wave smashed the mast of his ocean-going yacht down on to him.
Dave would point to the churning waters in the bay as a front arrived. " See how the sea is spinning in circles. It does not know which direction to go."
Within minutes light has turned to dark, the exquiste mare's tails streaming off the breaking waves in the norwester have disappeared in the solid, driving wall of spray and the bay is erupting as large rollers begin chasing each other through it.
To experience this is to know
the transforming capacity of energy.
